Laser dentistry
Dental lasers use focused light energy for specific clinical purposes. Depending on the device and settings, a laser may be used to treat selected soft tissues or to deliver non-cutting photobiomodulation.
Laser treatment is not automatically better for every procedure. We recommend it only when it offers a suitable option for your diagnosis, and we will discuss the expected benefits, limitations and alternatives with you.
Treatment options
The right technique depends on the tissue being treated, your diagnosis and the outcome you need. We will explain why a laser is, or is not, appropriate for you.

A laser may be considered for removing selected areas of soft tissue. Where a biopsy is required, the tissue may be sent to a laboratory so it can be examined and a diagnosis confirmed.

A frenectomy releases or removes a restrictive frenum beneath the tongue or inside the lip. Treatment is considered only after assessing the tissue, symptoms and functional concerns.
