Assessment-led care
A frenum is a natural band of tissue beneath the tongue or inside the lip. A frenectomy releases or removes selected tissue when there is a clear clinical reason to do so.
Dr Robin Ratcliffe assesses the tissue, movement, symptoms and surrounding gum health. Where a functional concern is involved, input from another healthcare professional may also be appropriate.
Clinical reason confirmed first

Laser and conventional options assessed

Care led by Dr Robin Ratcliffe
Treatment may involve a laser or a conventional surgical technique. The method and extent of treatment depend on the site, nearby structures and the purpose of the procedure.
Dr Robin will explain the intended aim, alternatives and limitations. A frenectomy cannot be assumed to resolve every speech, feeding or movement concern.
Technique matched to the clinical need
Limitations discussed before treatment
Aftercare and review planned
