About the treatment

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are custom-made ceramic restorations bonded to the front surface of selected teeth. They may be considered for concerns involving colour, shape, wear, chips or spacing when the teeth and gums are suitable.

Veneers usually involve some irreversible tooth preparation and will need maintenance and eventual replacement. Composite bonding, whitening or orthodontics may be more appropriate in some cases. Dr Emma Still (GDC 265132) and Dr Tom Metselaar (GDC 296169) will explain the relevant options after assessment.

Transform Colour, Shape and Alignment

Veneers can alter the visible colour, shape and proportions of selected teeth. The amount of preparation depends on the tooth position, existing restorations, bite and intended change. Veneers cannot correct every alignment or oral-health concern.

Shade and shape are planned with you, and a digital preview may help communicate the proposal. A preview is a planning aid rather than a guarantee. Your dentist will also discuss risks, alternatives, maintenance and how porcelain and the surrounding natural teeth may change over time.

Porcelain Veneers FAQs

Questions about porcelain veneers

Your consultation is the right place to discuss suitability, alternatives and what your own care may involve.

Veneers need maintenance and eventual replacement. Their lifespan varies with the bite, preparation, material, oral hygiene and habits such as grinding. Porcelain resists many stains, but the surrounding natural teeth can still change.
