Expert Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment saves teeth that would otherwise need extraction. At Danbury Dental Care, patients from Chelmsford, Maldon, Danbury and across Essex can see our in-house endodontist, Dr Amit Patel, for precise care when infection or inflammation reaches the nerve of a tooth. The procedure removes the damaged pulp from inside the tooth, disinfects and seals the canals, and allows the tooth to be restored rather than removed. If you are nervous, root canal under sedation is available with IV sedation, so treatment can feel calm, controlled and far less overwhelming.

Root Canal Treatment with Dr Amit Patel, Endodontist

Dr Amit Patel focuses on endodontics - the area of dentistry dedicated to diagnosing tooth pain and saving infected teeth with root canal treatment. After qualifying from Queen Mary University of London in 2015, he returned to complete a Master's in Endodontic Practice and has developed a calm, reassuring style that suits both straightforward and more demanding cases. If you have been told you may need an endodontist, or if you have delayed treatment because of anxiety, we can coordinate your care in-house. Dr Patel works alongside Dr Kaly Gengeswaran for root canal under sedation, giving nervous patients access to both specialist endodontic treatment and IV sedation in one practice.

Why Patients Choose Our Endodontic Service

Endodontist-Led Care

Your root canal treatment is planned around the diagnosis, anatomy and condition of the tooth, with specialist endodontic input from Dr Amit Patel.

Stops Pain at the Source

If you have severe toothache, lingering sensitivity, swelling or pain on biting, root canal treatment removes the infection causing the problem rather than simply masking symptoms.

Root Canal Under Sedation

Local anaesthetic keeps the tooth numb and IV sedation is available for nervous patients who want a calmer, more relaxed root canal experience.

Keeps Your Natural Tooth

Saving the natural tooth helps preserve your bite, chewing function and smile while avoiding the extra treatment involved in an extraction and replacement.

YOUR JOURNEY

The Root Canal Process

Clear steps from diagnosis to long-term protection

1

Assessment and Diagnosis

We examine the tooth, discuss your symptoms and take any necessary X-rays to confirm whether root canal treatment is the right option. If you are in significant pain, we also talk through urgent relief.

2

Anaesthetic and Sedation Planning

The tooth is fully numbed with local anaesthetic before treatment begins. If you want root canal under sedation, Dr Kaly Gengeswaran can provide IV sedation to help you stay relaxed throughout the appointment.

3

Cleaning and Sealing the Canals

Dr Amit Patel carefully removes the infected pulp, cleans and shapes the root canals, then seals them to prevent reinfection. A temporary or permanent restoration is then placed depending on the tooth.

4

Protecting the Tooth

After root canal treatment, many teeth benefit from a crown to reduce the risk of fracture and restore full strength. Crowns start from £790 and are made to blend with your natural smile.

Root canal treatment should not be painful. We numb the tooth fully with local anaesthetic before we start, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. If you are especially anxious, root canal under sedation is also available.
