Gentle Sedation for Children

When your child feels frightened about dental visits, it can be heart-wrenching for the whole family. At Danbury Dental Care, we understand that dental anxiety in children is common, and we are here to help with gentle inhalation sedation. Inhalation sedation (sometimes called 'happy air' or 'laughing gas') uses a blend of oxygen and nitrous oxide delivered through a comfortable nose mask. Within minutes, your child feels relaxed and calm while remaining awake and able to respond throughout treatment. The effects wear off quickly once the mask is removed. Serving families from across Essex, Kent, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, we provide safe, effective sedation from £250 per hour so your child can receive the care they need without distress.

Building Positive Dental Memories

Fear of needles, strange sounds or past difficult experiences can make routine dental care feel overwhelming for children. Inhalation sedation sidesteps that fear by creating a sense of safety and ease before any treatment begins. Your child breathes normally through a small, scented nose mask (they can choose their favourite smell). Within 2-3 minutes, muscles unclench, heart rate settles and worries fade. Local anaesthetic can then be given without distress, and treatment proceeds calmly while your child stays awake, comfortable and able to respond. By removing the fear barrier, we can complete fillings, extractions or other procedures that might otherwise require multiple stressful attempts or be left untreated altogether.
