Paediatric Sedation for Children
When your child feels frightened about dental treatment, the whole family feels it. At Danbury Dental Care, we offer paediatric sedation options that can make treatment calmer, safer, and easier to manage.
For many children, inhalation sedation with a small nose mask is the gentlest starting point. Dr Shivani Popat (GDC 278152) provides children's inhalation sedation with a calm, friendly approach that helps anxious children feel more at ease.
For selected cases, paediatric IV sedation may also be appropriate when a deeper level of support is needed. We usually consider this for children who are typically over 20kg and only after a careful consultation.
Serving families from across Essex, Kent, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, we provide inhalation sedation from £250 per hour and paediatric IV sedation from £950.

Two Sedation Options, One Careful Decision
Some children do very well with a small nose mask and fast-clearing inhalation sedation. Others need a deeper level of support because their anxiety is intense, treatment is longer, or they cannot tolerate the mask comfortably.
That is why we assess each child individually instead of forcing every family into the same pathway. During consultation we look at age, weight, medical history, treatment type, previous dental experiences, and how your child is coping with the idea of treatment.
Dr Shivani Popat graduated with Honours from King's College London and has extensive experience in sedation, helping anxious adults and children receive dental care more comfortably. For many younger children, inhalation sedation remains the gentler first choice. For selected children, typically over 20kg, paediatric IV sedation may be appropriate. The goal is always the same: a calmer appointment and a better experience for your child and for you.

Why Choose Children's Dental Sedation?
More Than One Sedation Option
We can talk through inhalation sedation and, in selected cases, paediatric IV sedation instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Calmer, Better Planned Visits
The right sedation plan can make treatment easier for anxious children and less stressful for parents.
Quick Recovery When Inhalation Fits
Inhalation sedation wears off quickly, which can make it ideal for children who cope well with a nose mask.
Selected-Case Paediatric IV Sedation
For children who need deeper support, paediatric IV sedation may be appropriate in selected cases, typically when they are over 20kg.
