Frequently asked questions
What is IV Sedation?
IV sedation involves a controlled dose of midazolam or a similar medicine delivered through a small cannula in your arm. It relaxes you deeply yet keeps you responsive enough to follow simple instructions.
Will I be fully asleep throughout treatment?
No—you enter a “twilight” state where you feel drowsy, calm and unaware of time passing, but you still breathe on your own and can answer the dentist if needed. Most people remember little or nothing afterwards.
What does IV Sedation cost?
IV Sedation is £350/hour in addition to the treatment fee, A written estimate is provided before you undertake treatment with us.
Are over-the-counter kits the same?
High-street kits in the UK are limited to 0.1 % peroxide by law, far weaker than dentist-supplied gels (up to 6 % hydrogen peroxide or 16 % carbamide peroxide). They may freshen surface stains but rarely change the underlying shade much.
How white can I expect my teeth to get?
Most patients see a shift of 4–6 VITA shades; final colour depends on genetics and the type of staining. Crowns, veneers and fillings won’t change, so the aim is to brighten natural enamel to blend with existing dental work.
